New York Fishing Charter Guest Comments
"I've fished with Merritt in both Montauk and Key West, on days where there were fish everywhere, and other days when you should just go home. He knows a lot about fishing, and has taught me plenty. He is utterly fearless about getting his client on top of fish, and he will fight to the bitter end to get you one. And best of all, he's a guy you like to be in a boat with."

"I have been out with a number of fishing guides / captains over the years and Merritt ranks at the top of my list. His expertise and knowledge have always led to great days on the water. Not only does he put you on the fish, but Merritt's friendly disposition and patience make him a true gem.
I had a buddy along the past couple of years who had never gone saltwater fly fishing and Merritt, with great patience and diligence, helped him land some great fish. Merritt will also go the extra mile to make the most out of a trip. One time he suggested that we hang around the Lighthouse until dusk to have a shot at some blitzing Bass. Nearly all of the other guides didn't stick around since they seemed to be on some sort of time limit.
Well, the Bass came in and we essentially had an unforgettable experience to cap off a fantastic trip."

"I was out with Merritt this past Monday (July 3rd) and had a great time with my son (See photos!). Kelby was the killer, reeling in a 28 inch and 24 inch Striper for the big catches of the day. The 28 incher went into the oven, and was great eating. Also, caught Blue (was also eaten as Ceviche- a raw marinated dish-very good), Fluke (Summer Flounder) and a bunch of Porgies (also called Scup). They were deep fried in cornmeal, and were great eating.
The weather was outstanding, with overcast skies, keeping things cool and ideal for fishing. We used plugs and drifted through boulder fields off Plum Island with Stripers hitting hard near shore in rocky/sandy flats and giving good fight. Blues hung out a bit farther from shore, in same conditions, and gave a nasty fight."
