Merritt recently took a my friend and I tarpon "hunting" in Key West, and although we saw fish all day, they would not bite. He then suggested 2 hours at night, and did not quit until after 4 hours both of us hooked and landed fish.

After spending 1/2 hour landing a 110# tarpon in the dark, Merritt's first concern after taking a quick picture was to be sure the tarpon survived the experience, and was quickly re-acclimated to the water, and safely sent "on his way". "It's Joe Sprout just letting you know that my wife and I have a place in the Keys now so I'm going to have to get together with you on the water soon. I had a great time near Montauk last year and I've come to appreciate the extra hustle you put forth and your great attitude. I've fished with many captains and I can honestly say that you out-hustle the majority of them.

The way I see it, neither you nor I can make the fish do anything, we can't change the weather, and you can't change my casting (even though you may want to, ha ha).
